You should be able to use the built-in command line on the Windows taskbar immediately after the installation. Windows Git installations are a bit more straightforward. You can download Xcode directly from the macOS App Store or use the following terminal command: Xcode-select –install. Xcode is a popular option to consider, as it’s the official IDE for Apple. To run Git commands on macOS, you’ll need developer tools installed. If you haven’t used Git before on your Mac, then you’ll like get a pop-up that looks like this: To see if Git works on your Mac, run this terminal command: Git –version. Extra disc space is also required for your development libraries. You must have at least 15 GB of disk space available for the installation. You can continue with this version or download the latest version of Git for macOS directly from the Git project website. There should be a Git version already supplied with your existing macOS. Then you’ll be able to complete many Git operations, like cloning branches, directly in GitLab. For those of you who have already completed this task, you can skip ahead to the next step. Step #1: Install Gitįirst, you need to make sure Git has been installed. This in-depth guide will show you how to clone a specific branch using GitLab. Git clone and Git branch workflows are two important concepts for using Git effectively. You can adjust the tempo, meter, and signature and add markers, different tempos, or meters throughout the timeline. You have the tracklist at your left and a clip list on the other side. Here’s where you can control all aspects of your mix, tracks, and session, in general. You have the transport bar to record, fast forward/rewind, MIDI sync, and set up your Pre-roll, Post-roll, or fade-in time. Here you can change the editing mode, access different zoom options, editing tools, or adjust the timecode view, the grid, and nudge. This way, you will learn everything you need to know about Pro Tools and get the most out of it since day one. To cover as much as possible and give you a detailed overview of how it works and what it has to offer, we’ll break it into different categories – the main window and the mixer window. Shortcuts come especially handy during recording and editing because it keeps every one of its features only a few keys away from using them. Nevertheless, it’s not that hard, and it’s all about learning the shortcuts that allow you to flow with the DAW and keep you from the necessity of using the mouse to navigate through the software. Pro Tools is efficient and optimized to accelerate any workflow, especially for recording and post-producing, but it has a learning curve. To get the whole loop library, you’ll need only 2GB and an additional 3GB if you get the extra sample and sound library. For a minimal installation, you’ll need 15GB of disk space. Pro Tools is available on Avid Audio’s website, where you can download its free version, Pro Tools | One, purchase a monthly license for $34.99, purchase a one-year license with a monthly $29.99 fee, or pay ahead a full-year license for $299.99. That represents a pointless obstacle because you’d be only able to use Pro Tools with an internet connection, or if you’re not using the iLok cloud, you’d have to wait for a USB iLok key to be delivered to your billing address and waste a USB port. You need to download the iLok manager to enable yourself to use the software after purchasing the license. It can be a major concern because it won’t necessarily make up for the expense if you’re starting, and a perpetual license costs $600 and only includes a year of updates and support, which you’d have to renew every year. Unlike other DAWs, you don’t actually buy Pro Tools but rent it instead, and you have to pay a monthly fee to keep using the software with a license. Still, it doesn’t necessarily mean it would work like it’s supposed to. Fortunately enough, there’s a lot of information about system optimization for both Windows and Mac users to reduce this issue as much as possible. These features require a lot of system usage, and they can absorb your computer specs, especially when working with the video engine. Luckily, Avid’s customer support is particularly good, but still, this is a major disadvantage. It’s no secret that Pro Tools has some crazy crashes that happen randomly for no apparent reason, and this is problematic because troubleshooting can go from taking 5 minutes to even days or even contacting Avid support for your specific issue. Pro Tools lets you optimize your workspace and is so customizable that you can adapt it to your specific needs. You don’t have to waste any time looking for a specific tool but only hold a couple of keys and do what you have to do.įollowing up with the previous point, despite having a learning curve, you don’t think about it anymore once you learn where things are and how to reach them. It’s comfortable, it’s quick, and most of all efficient. Not many other DAWs give you the possibility of an entirely shortcut-controllable interface. They’re also very light in color, which helps with their adaptability since their most linear response prevents them from creating artifacts that might affect the overall sound. Pro Tools stock plugins are designed for professional use, which is clearly reflected in their sound and usability. You can do many things editing-wise, even modifying waveforms, which is not very commonly seen in other DAWs, like Logic or Cubase. Of course, you can edit any audio signal and even videos in the latest versions. You can work on any possible audio-related project, and you probably won’t find a thing you cannot do. It’s got so many features, and it’s so well-thought-out that not many other DAWs can match it. The possibilities with Pro Tools are endless. 7 Readings that you may like: Is Pro Tools worth it in 2023? Pros of using Pro Tools ![]() ![]() ![]() In Drupal 8, the new theme engine Twig is used. In a lot of ways, we’re circling right back to that because of the voice assistants. Can we still just pick up the phone?įor 50 years, that’s how everybody placed an order. Each innovation changes the overall experience, and we start pulling those learnings back. Then there’s a whole other section that’s like, ‘Wow, that’s awesome, but I’m still going to order with my app because that’s what I’m familiar with.’ But they’re moving. They’re the early adopters who are willing to try new stuff, even if it’s a little cutting edge. Is it more about meeting your existing customers where they already are or is it about finding new customers? Pretty much everyone now has gotten used to ordering digitally. Millennials are the ones using some of the newer innovations, like the ability to order on Facebook Messenger, and the older generation orders on their laptops and desktops. My boss likes saying that our target market is anyone with a stomach because almost everyone likes pizza. Are young people the only ones using this tech? That helps them get employees and makes them feel better about working at the brand. It also helps with our franchisees because they see Domino’s in the news and hear their customers talking about us as a brand that’s young and hip and cool. They want to do something interesting and that makes a difference. It makes a big difference when you can show that you’re doing these really cool, innovative things, because those are the types of things people want to work on. These should be things that move the brand forward in a big way long-term. It’s about pushing the boundaries to create fun experiences that reinforce who we are as a brand. Pizza’s fun, so these things should be, too. And we have a zero-click app that allows you to order without basically doing anything at all. ![]() We were one of the first to do Twitter ordering. We were one of the first companies to have a voice interface in our apps. What are some of the digital platforms you’re using? I think they give us a lot of credit for that, and it helps them identify more with the brand. So, if you’re someone who really likes to tweet, you can now order a Domino’s pizza using Twitter - and you can do it using a pizza emoji. It demonstrates to our consumers, especially millennials, that we’re willing to do whatever it takes to deliver a really good pizza experience. How have consumers responded to your digital innovation? We’re really focused on creating great experiences and using tech to deliver them. More than half of our sales come through our digital platforms, and more than half of those are mobile. What percentage of your sales are digital now? We used to be a pizza company that sells online, and now we’re becoming an e-commerce company that sells pizza. So we changed the product and the way we sold the product. At the same time, we went on a big push toward digital. We basically redid everything, including the crust and the sauce. In 2010, we launched our entirely new pizza. When did Domino’s start making its tech push? The Best Buy Blog sat down with Domino’s Chief Digital Officer Dennis Maloney to learn more about how the pizza chain has evolved into a tech company in recent years. It now offers 13 digital platforms for ordering a pizza, including smartwatch apps, Facebook Messenger, Google Home and a zero-click app. The increasingly simple art of ordering a pizza is yet another example of how tech is changing the way we live and communicate - and Domino’s has been on the leading edge of the trend. You need only open an app or tweet a pizza emoji, then wait for your food to arrive. Then the industry transformed with the advent of online ordering. It wasn’t long ago that you had to actually pick up the phone to order a pizza. ![]() |
